About the role
We are looking for a bright and articulate person with an interest in financial services to join our Corporate Affairs team for a fixed term one year traineeship.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with both the UK Government Affairs and Media Relations teams on high profile business and consumer-driven PR campaigns, as well as on the IA’s government relations strategy. You will have opportunity to shadow specialist members of the team gaining an understanding of our work with the industry, media and policymakers.
The role will include compiling written reports and briefings on key industry and government issues for use by our members and Executive Committee; drafting press releases; preparing social media content; and monitoring of the media and Parliament.
This traineeship will provide you with an introduction to public affairs and public relations in financial services from which to build your career. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with trainees outside of the IA through both social and professional events offered by the IA’s talent development programme, Investment20/20. You will also be able to network with the IA’s members.
About the candidate
The successful candidate will be highly literate with good written and oral communication skills. They will have a good understanding of current affairs and an interest in the business landscape, as well as politics, government and the media. They will also have a “can do” attitude, a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail and be willing to take on tasks at short notice and deliver them successfully to high quality.
